In a follow-up to our video on liver shots, Dan Schmidt explains why the quartering-away shot is the best option for bowhunting. He also shows footage of this in action from his recently successful hunt in Florida. In the product of the day, we take a look at the locking feature of the new SEVR Broadhead.

The night supervisor at the Stanley Hotel, located in Estes Park, Colorado, had a shocking surprise during the early hours of Aug. 23. That’s when a curious black bear came wandering through the lobby.
It all happened around 4 a.m., and lucky for us, the quick-thinking employee managed to capture the most unusual of guests with his cell phone.
The black bear apparently wandered into the lobby, checked out a coffee table and couch and wandered downstairs and out a side door.
We’re guessing the place wasn’t to his liking.
(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = ‘https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v3.1’; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));
BEAR IN THE STANLEY HOTEL LOBBY
Um…. so a bear wandered into the lobby of the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park! https://on9news.tv/2BSt095

The Stanley Hotel has a fabled past. Stephen King was inspired to write The Shining after staying here. There’s also talk that the hollowed halls are haunted.
But in its 109 years of existence, this is the first time a bear decided to pay a visit. He’s now talk of the town.

https://www.wideopenspaces.com/creating-the-perfect-slug-gun-set-up-for-this-season/
When it comes to building the perfect slug gun for deer hunters, it’s easy to get intimated by the array of options. A lot of people don’t ever try hunting deer with a shotgun, so they don’t know where to start.
Thankfully, we’ve put together a guide to forging the right deer hunting shotgun for anyone.
What will you be hunting with this year?
The Remington 870 has probably killed more deer than almost any other slug gun. They’re cost-effective, reliable and easy to customize. In fact, my trusty 20-gauge slug gun and some sabot slugs helped me tag my first handful of deer. With a rifled barrel and scope mounted, you’ll be ready for deer season. It’s important to note this gun isn’t the most accurate option when weighing all of the options. However, it’s an all-around solid choice.
This is a fantastic option for anyone, but for those who are trying to limit spending on a gun, the Remington 870 is perfect.
This is my current slug gun and it’s one of my favorites. Its a single-shot with a heavy-duty, rifled barrel. I use Hornady slugs with this gun and they shoot dead on and 100 yards. The scope mount can sometimes seem too shallow depending on the scope you put on it. I’ve found this gun to be very reliable and accurate over the years, though.
It’s a little on the heavy side, but if you’re still hunting, that shouldn’t be too much of an issue. However, if spot and stalk is your style, it could get a little heavy carrying it all day. At the end of the day, I plan to use this slug gun for many more hunting seasons.

This bolt-action slug gun is revered as one of the most accurate long-distance deer hunting shotguns. The build fosters for long-range accuracy and consistency. Although I haven’t shot this particular model, I’ve heard nothing but good things. If I were to purchase a new slug gun, this would be my top choice.
The gun comes with Savage’s AccuTrigger, which I’ve come to love in some of my other Savage firearms. The trigger technology would certainly increase accuracy when scoping a buck this fall.
Some other great options to explore are the Winchester 1300 and Browning BPS Rifled Deer Hunter.
Good luck this season!

https://www.wideopenspaces.com/video-check-out-this-strange-extra-tiny-chainsaw/
The Crazy Russian Hacker certainly finds some interesting products to review on his YouTube channel. Giant matches, solar grills and over-sized survival kits are just some of the weirder things he’s looked at recently.
But perhaps nothing is as strange as this tiny, battery-operated chainsaw from the U.K.
We honestly don’t know what to make of this thing.
What a strange product. We’re really wondering who the target audience is for something like this. It clearly works, but wouldn’t be effective for situations like cutting firewood or clearing debris. Maybe this would serve as a nice trimmer to clear shooting lanes in your treestand, though.
Maybe it’s made for chainsaw artists who want something smaller to work on the fine details of their sculptures? Who knows? It’s certainly an interesting product, even if it seems to be more of a novelty than a practicality. Thanks for sharing it with us, Taras!
