SPRO’s King Daddy Frog Gets New Colors

The Bronzeye Frog 90 is the King Daddy of all frog baits. The oversized profile and unmatched action of the larger-than-life frog attract the biggest predators as it chugs and sputters its way through the thickest mats without hanging up or snagging. And now, SPRO has added four of the most popular colors to the King Daddy line to answer angler demand.
“The King Daddy is the biggest frog on the market,” said SPRO Pro and lure designer Dean Rojas. “If you want explosive topwater action with the biggest bass or muskies, you need to fish a King Daddy.”
B.A.S.S. Elite Series Angler Dean Rojas and SPRO developed the frog for bass anglers across the country 15 years ago. Since that time, Rojas and SPRO played with the winning formula to create different baits to excel in specific conditions. The Bronzeye Frog 90 King Daddy was built 30 percent bigger than the original to give multi-species anglers the profile to entice the largest predators out of hiding. The heavy-duty Gamakatsu double hook ensures that strikes turn into hookups, with the backbone needed to horse fish through the densest weeds using the beefiest rods and strongest braids.

“We’ve added four of the most popular colors from our other frogs to the King Daddy line. Anglers wanted our proven Navy Seal, Yellow Sparkle, Outback and Albino colors in a larger size to target bigger fish,” said Rojas. “Albino is one of my favorites because it allows me to easily customize the bait to match forage species or light conditions with just a paint marker.”
The one-ounce King Daddy delivers extra casting distance so you can hit the pads in the back where no boat can go. Reach untouched pockets where lunkers lie with the weedless performance to wiggle through the thickest cover without snagging. The walking action also excels in open water, drawing fish from submerged cover for adrenaline-inducing surface blow-ups.
For big fish in thick mats, sparse weeds, or open water, you can’t beat the splashing, gurgling action of the King Daddy. Now available in four additional fish-catching colors.

Bronzeye Frog 90 King Daddy Features:
- 90mm
- 1 ounce
- Gamakatsu 6/0 EWG Double hook
- In NEW Navy Seal, Yellow Sparkle, Outback, and Albino
- Also available in: Midnight Walker, Leopard, Nasty Shad, Natural Green, Killer Gill, Rainforest Black, Natural Red, and Green Tree Frog

Gamakatsu’s Under Spin Helps Bass Pro Mike McClelland

Gamakatsu® turned to Bass Pro Mike McClelland when they were designing the Under Spin Head. The veteran angler drew on his 31 years as a professional bass fisherman to help build the ultimate swimbait head, with enough added flash to force even uncooperative fish to bite.
“The great thing about the Under Spin Head is its versatility. It’s perfect for a wide variety of conditions,” explains McClelland, who has collected 35 Top 10 finishes in his three decades as a Bass Pro. “I can fish it fast or slow in open water or snake it through cover. The Gamakatsu Heavy Cover hook gives the Under Spin Head the perfect balance of power and finesse.”
McClelland wanted a way to cover ground that would turn on even neutral fish and the Under Spin delivers. The head profile is streamlined to glide through cover, with lifelike recessed eyes providing a focal point for predators that ensures they find the hook point with each strike. The bright chrome willow blade spins freely at the slowest speeds, thanks to a quality ball-bearing swivel, creating an irresistible bubble trail even at a snail’s pace.
“The key to its action is the wire link. We tweaked it until we got just the right length to keep the blade moving freely with the largest soft plastics,” explains the pro. “Fast or slow, the blades deliver a great action that triggers strikes.”
“I can go up to 18-pound flouro. I don’t have to worry about bending the hook if I have to winch fish up quickly,” says McClelland. The heavy wire and wide gap design of the 60-degree Heavy Cover hook give anglers a better hook-up ratio and retention when using bulky swimbaits. Still, the Under Spin Head will work with swimbaits as small as 3 inches so anglers can effectively match smaller forage. “The strong hook on the Under Spin Head gives you the ability to upsize your line. And with the bend of that hook, you just don’t lose fish.”
“The Spring Lock head provides easy rigging. And once it’s on there, it’s not going anywhere,” explains the winning angler. Gamakatsu’s Spring Lock holds swimbaits and other plastics gently but firmly, keeping your presentation straight on the hook. McClelland uses various swimbaits and other soft plastics with the Under Spin Head, ranging in size from 3.5 to 6 inches. “You don’t need super glue with the Under Spin Head. Just rig and fish.”
Gamakatsu’s Under Spin Head is built on a 4/0 Heavy Cover hook and is available in 1/2, 1/4, 3/16, and 3/8 ounce sizes to hit all levels of the water column. The jig head comes unpainted, letting anglers’ fish as is for a subtle presentation or paint it for a more custom look.

Under Spin Head Features:
- 60-degree Heavy Cover hook
- Chrome willow leaf blade
- Quality ball-bearing swivel
- Spring Lock for holding swim baits
- Attention-getting, recessed eyes
- Streamlined head profile
- Size: 4/0 hook in sizes 3/16, ¼, 3/8, and ½ ounce
- Color: Plain Lead
- Qty/Pack: 1

Mud Boots or Snake Boots

Mudtrek Snake Boots from Irish Setter Sets the Bar Incredibly High
Mud Boots or Snake Boots? How about covering both of those with the new Mudtrek Boots from Irish Setter Boots. The new Mudtrek snake boots are the rubber boots that you have been dreaming about. These Mudtreks are some of the lightest boots created by Irish Setter and are some of the lightest on the market.
Hunters can choose from snug, athletic or traditional, roomier full fit. They have youth hunting boots, women’s hunting boots and men’s hunting boots all in the Mudtrek snake boot line up. At first look you notice the side zipper. This helps you get your feet into and out of the boots easily. The seal on the zipper is completely waterproof with internal rubber. I like being able to tuck my pants directly into these boots to keep bugs out of my pants. Of course, with all of my gear, I use a pretty liberal amount of Ranger Ready Permethrin on my boots, clothes and gear for hunting to keep ticks and mosquitoes off my gear and off my body.
These snake boots are built with Temp Sens which allows temperature regulations built into the lining for comfort. In this manner, the boots repel heat and migrate moisture using a hyper-wicking away from your feet. This gives your feet some evaporative cooling. In colder conditions, it pulls moisture from your feet and traps it in the thermal barrier to keep a comfortable temperature inside the boot.
The Temp Sens is built with Scentban Technology to keep your feet from smelling during the warmer archery season. In the insulated styles with ThermoBoost technology you get light boots with less bulk. The 3D fleece linings provide warmth and keep air flowing through the lining. “We set out to address the top concerns with rubber boots, and the MudTrek line is the result,” said Charley Bryant, Irish Setter Product Merchant. “They’re lightweight, fit well, are waterproof and regulate the temperature inside the boot exceptionally well.”
The sole of these snake boots are self-cleaning and keep the mud and dirt dropping off your boots as you walk and move. The neoprene/rubber makes these waterproof and will keep them in use for quite a few years. The heal on these has a toe clip that lets you use your toe to help get the boots off and step right out of them. The insole of these boots is comfortable and the full fit gives your feet room to breathe.
The vulcanized rubber boot features SnakeGuard which provides resistance to fangs and thorns and keeps your feet warm and dry during wet or early morning hunts. Testing these on early morning turkey scouting trips and coming home with dry socks has us smiling from ear to ear. When comparing the Mudtrek Snake Boots to some of the rubber hunting boots on the market, the upside of the Mudtrek boots is the moisture management component. As well, we are happy with the light weight of these rubber hunting boots. #mudboots #Snakeboots #rubberboots #Irishsetter #mudtrek #huntingboots

GoWild Warns of Spike in Ammo Scammers

Outdoor social media platform, GoWild, is issuing a strong warning to firearms consumers:
Scammers are aiming for your ammo purchases.
GoWild’s security team has flagged a record amount of firearms scammers focusing on gun accessories over the last few weeks, especially with ammunition. While GoWild deletes the scammers from its platform immediately upon identification, the company has also found scammers circulating through other social networks, and is therefore releasing tips to help shoppers identify the scammers.
“With gun sales at an all-time high and ammunition in short supply, scammers see a rich opportunity,” said firearms enthusiast and GoWild Cofounder, President, Zack Grimes. “Buying ammo online is safe if you’re working with a known reputable company—I do it all the time. But these scammers are taking advantage of millions of new gun owners and even some long-time firearms owners.”
About the Scammers
Most of the scammers are operating from outside of the United States. They are not only using fake business names, they’re creating fake logos, addresses and websites to pose as legitimate companies. The content posted usually appears to be stolen.
At first glance and especially to an untrained eye, it can be tough to tell if a company is legitimate. But GoWild’s tips below will help consumers better identify scammers.
Tips to Avoid Being Scammed
- If it’s too good of a deal, it is
- Scammers often list prices for half MSRP.
- Don’t take the convo to another platform
- On social media platforms, scammers nearly always ask to speak via direct message or will often ask to use another chat app (WeChat, Hangouts, etc.).
- Be leary of messaging app purchases with third party payments
- Many scammers are selling via direct messaging through social media platforms, not real websites. They are asking for customers to use Venmo or Cash App to send payment. If the scammer has a website, credit card will sometimes not be an option. The only payment options are often Zelle, PayPal, Cash App, Venmo and even Bitcoin. GoWild does not recommend trusting sellers who direct messaged you and want to use third party payment apps. The company also recommends against trusting retailers who don’t accept credit cards.
- Check for website security indicators
- Real retailers will have an SSL certificate, which ensures a secure connection for transferring personal data. Tap the lock at the beginning of a web URL to see if your connection is secure. Please note GoWild has still identified scammers with SSL certificates for fake websites.
- Look for confusing sentences or misspellings
- Scammer communication will often be confusing and with poor grammar. Scammer websites are chocked full of typos and glaring mistakes. GoWild has found that many of the scammer websites are using copy and images from established businesses. One scam website listed its own fake name but forgot to change the original retailer’s name in the next paragraph.
- Check the business address
- It sounds simple but it’s one of the easiest ways to verify a real business. Business addresses for scammers are always fake. A simple check online will often lead you to find the website’s address listing is not even a real address. If you can’t find an address, be leary.
- When in doubt, don’t buy
- If you buy, the scammers are going to have not only your payment information, but your home address. Even with this firearm and ammo shortage, it’s not worth it.
- Simply put: Buy from trusted sources
- The best way to ensure you’re not getting scammed is to work with brands you know and trust.
