Steve Nielsen spent over 2,000 hours creating this one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
Steve Nielsen has a mind-boggling knack for working with metal to say the least.
We first introduced you to Nielsen’s work earlier this month, showcasing a polished stainless steel walleye piece he designed and sculpted to raise funds for the conservation of walleye and their waters.
That piece was auctioned off at a Fish Futures banquet April 26 with a high bid of $10,000.
And although that polished metal walleye was a thing of eye-catching beauty, this bald eagle sculpture definitely defines supreme craftsmanship.
The eagle was a commissioned sculpture built for the city of Oroville, California. This project took over 2,000 hours to complete, and was a work in progress between 2009 and 2013.
It can be viewed during regular business hours at Oroville’s City Hall.
The eagle’s wingspan is an incredible 6 1/2 feet wide, and it features 4,000 individual, hand-sanded, polished feathers, each welded on one-by-one.
This is a truly stunning sculpture, which displays a rare talent unlike anything we’ve seen.
